On Monday at 5:12 p.m. the National Weather Service issued an updated severe thunderstorm warning valid until 5:30 p.m. for Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
The storms may bring penny-sized hail (0.75 inches) and wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
“At 5:12 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Warsaw, or 17 miles northwest of Georgetown, moving northeast at 15 mph,” states the weather service. “Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.”
The warning is for Andrews, Earle and Warsaw.
The weather service adds, “For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Please send your reports of hail and/or wind damage, including trees or large limbs downed, by calling the National Weather Service office in Wilmington at 1-800-697-3901.”
This warning is in effect until 5:30 p.m.
